The World Day for Consecrated Life was instituted by St John Paul 11 in 1997 and is celebrated by the church in conjunction with the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, Candlemas Day. Pope Francis will celebrate Mass in St Peter’s Basilica in Rome to recognise and pray for consecrated persons in the life of the Church and to express gratitude for their service to the church. Here in the Cathedral of St Mary and St Anne, over two hundred religious, sisters, brothers and clergy from throughout the diocese will join in a celebration of consecrated life on this Sunday February 2nd at the invitation of Bishop Fintan. Music will be performed by the Presentation Secondary School choir. Please note there will be no Mass at 5.30pm.
