November is the month when we remember our dead in a special way. Friday is the Feast of All Saints and is a Holiday of Obligation in Ireland. The Vigil Mass will take place in the Cathedral at 5.00pm on Thursday and at 10.15am on Friday morning. Saturday is the Feast of All Souls.
Both feast days remind us that our lives on earth will come to and end and that the hope and promise of eternal life is there for all of us.
Dont forget that the Novena for the Holy Souls will begin on Saturday November 2nd. It has always been a tradition in Ireland that families compile a list of their dead relatives, neighbours and friends and return them to the church. Why not take some time out to write and remember? Don’t forget the souls who have no one to pray for them.
On the following weekend, November 9th and 10th the Mass of Remembrance will take place in the Cathedral at 7.30pm on Saturday the 9th and the Blessing of the Graves will take place in Kilcully on Sunday 10th at 3.00pm.
